An Alabama woman was seriously injured Friday morning (November 1)  when the car she was driving ran under the rear of a soybean farm truck on Highway 278 four lane north of Pontotoc, according to Mississippi Highway Patrol Officer Brad Hamblin. The driver of the car, 21-year-old Parker Crawford Williams, of Fairhope, Alabama, was airlifted from the scene to NMMC in Tupelo with serious injuries, Hamblin said.  The driver of the farm truck, 67-year-old Guy Harrison, of Pontotoc, was not injured in the accident, Hamblin reported.

The accident occurred around 10:30 a.m. near the Beulah Grove Road crossing on Highway 278.  Hamblin said the farm truck and the car were both eastbound on Highway 278 when the woman’s 2010 Volkswagon Jetta automobile apparently ran under the rear of the  soybean truck.  There were no passengers in either of the two vehicles involved in the collision, he said.
