Cathy Lynn Nanney, 59, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth.
Services were Tuesday, January 22, at United Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Terry Rogers and the Rev. James Wells officiating. Burial was in Enterprise Cemetery.
She is survived by a daughter, Angela Wilson (Grant) of Fulton; a son, Chris Nanney of New Albany; three sisters, Kay Rooker (Frank), Patricia Deere (Mike), and Brenda Minser (Jim), all of New Albany; a brother, Terry Riley (Vickie) of Ecru; her stepmother, Laverne Gilliam of New Albany; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Thomas Nanney and Carlos Nanney; and a sister, Tammy Rhea.

Charles Moss, 63, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was born Feb. 10, 1949, to John and Opal Moss. He was a Baptist. He attended school at Randolph, where he graduated in 1967. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1975 and was later awarded The Army Commendation Medal For Heroism with “V” device for his service. He worked for Lane Furniture Industry for 32 years and was employed by Encore Furniture prior to his illness. An outdoorsman at heart, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and watching football. He was well known for his pranks, jokes and his sense of humor. He loved to make people laugh.
Services were Sunday, January 27, at Baldwin Nowell Funeral Home Chapel in Pontotoc with Pastor Murry Galloway officiating. Burial was in Baldwin Memorial Gardens in Pontotoc. Baldwin Nowell Funeral Home of Pontotoc was in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Wilma Moss; three sons, Ken Moss (Cynthia), Mike Moss (Rena) and Tracy Boland; one daughter, Tammy Browning; one daughter-in-law, Gena Moss, all of Pontotoc; four granddaughters, Kendra Moss, Hannah Moss, Alexa Moss and Natalie Carter (Eric); two brothers, Ray Moss (Shirley) and Johnny Moss (Cathy); two sisters, Ethelene Cowsert (L.D.) and Kathleen Purdon; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Opal Moss; infant brother, Timmy Moss; infant sister, Joyce Fay Moss; a son, Lee Moss; and his first wife, Jeanette Shook Moss.
Pallbearers were Gary Purdon, Carl Purdon, Daniel Purdon, Jonathan Moss, Cody Box and Keith Hodum

Sarah Amanda Gilliland Adams
On January 21, 2013, Sarah Amanda Gilliland Adams walked thru the shadows of death with Jesus Christ and her family at her side. Her early career in education began in Pontotoc, MS after graduation from Mississippi University for Women in Columbus, MS.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of forty-nine years, Roy C. Adams; one brother, Charles Thomas Gilliland and two sisters, Mary Addie Gilliland Geiger and Willie Warren Gilliland Martin.
She is survived by her children; two brothers, John E. Gilliland (Ann) of Mathiston, MS and Richard D. Gilliland (Gola Mae) of Ackerman, MS; her grandchildren, Albert Adams Paxton (Christy), Dr. Amy Carslile Blossom (Benjamin), James Connor Collins, Joshua Rogan Collins, Kathryn Taylor Cooke Short, Mary Amanda Cooke Godwin (John), Emilie Arden Cooke Lewis (Edwin Henry Lewis, III), Roy Clark Adams III, Laura Paige Adams, Leslie Elizabeth Adams, Lindsey Amanda Adams, Zachery Clark Adams (Lydia); and great-grandchildren, Benjamin David Blossom Jr., Carslile Collins Blossom, Charles Adams Blossom, Ethan Andrew Short, Evelyn Meade Godwin, John Phillip Godwin Jr., Sims Bishop Godwin, Dr. Lane Baxter (Bo), Drew Napier and Tucker Napier. She also leaves her special friends and caregivers, Alice Virginia Daniels, Sharon Chandler, and Hanna, Rhonda, and Jessica Long.
A private family celebration of her life was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 26, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues Funeral Home with Dr. David Eldridge officiating. A private family burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Lottie Cleo Bryant, 85, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was a member of West Heights Baptist Church and a retired factory worker and homemaker.

John Edward Rockette, 63, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at Viewmont Hospital in Detroit, Mich. A native of Taylor, he was the son of the late John D. Rockette and Emma Norphlet-Rockette.
Graveside committal services were Saturday, January 26, at Yocona Cemetery in Taylor. Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Pontotoc was in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by three daughters, Katherine Parker, Rose Andrews and Ashley Caine, all of Detroit, Mich.; six sisters, Jerry Brantley of Racine, Wis., Nina Rockette of Memphis, Earlie Rockette-Aderibigbe of Atlanta, Ga., Nancy Gordon of Abbeville, Mattie Rockette-Houston of Chesapeake, Va., and Elizabeth Rockette of Lorton, Va.; one brother, Jan R. Rockette of Taylor; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Mamie Ruth Turner, 88, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at Baldwyn Nursing Home. She was born May 31, 1924, in Union County to Henry Fred Turner and Willie Stacks Turner. She was a retired factory worker for Irvin B. Schwabe. She loved working in her yard and garden. She was a member of the Ellistown Baptist Church.

She is survived by her sister, Beatrice Duggar of Blue Springs; four nieces, Judy Gilmore of Verona, Jane Coker of Baldwyn, Jill Whitten of Blue Springs and Jeania Adair of Tupelo; a nephew, Terry Duggar of Blue Springs; nine great-nieces and great-nephews; and 13 great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Ora Lee Turner; and a brother, William Houston Turner.

Jean Gregory, 82, of Pontotoc died Friday, January 25, 2013 at North Mississippi Medical Center.
A private service was held at Boone’s Funeral Home in Leland, MS, where she lived for many years.
Survivors include two daughters, Bettye Allen (Bobby) of Birmingham, Ala., and Peggy Andrews of Pontotoc; 3 sons, Kenneth (Bonnie), Jerry, and Mike, all of Pontotoc. She had 16 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie Goss; and her husband, Theron Gregory.
Ruby Jean Reed Williams, 54, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at her home. She attended Shannon High School and later South Pontotoc High School, where she was actively involved in basketball. She was a cheerleader, a member of the homecoming court and participated in various other high school activities. She graduated in 1977. For several years she was employed at Belk’s Department Store and Jitney Jungle. She worked in a management position at Friedman’s Jewelers for many years.
Services were Saturday, January 26, at Mt. Calvary Outreach Ministry in Okolona with Minister Dan Collins III officiating. Williams Memorial of Okolona was in charge of the arrangements.

Wanda Fae Crawley, 63, passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at her home in Batesville.
