However, the “written in stone” ENTRY DEADLINE for participating in the parade is 4:30 p.m. on WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 28.
Entry forms may be picked up at the Pontotoc County Chamber/Main Street Association office at 109 North Main Street, Pontotoc.
There is a $20 entry fee for commercial and non-commercial entries. For more information call the chamber at 489-5042.
Ellen Russell, Chamber/Main Street Director, stresses that submission of an application to participate in the Pontotoc Christmas parade “implies that the policy rules have been read and will be adhered to.”
Russell said that horses and wagons will be allowed in this year’s parade, but participation rules will be strictly enforced.
“Each horse must be registered with a saddle club, or horse club, to take part in the parade,” Russell stressed.
“There is a $5 entry fee for each horse and rider and a wagon fee is $10.
“Application for horses must be signed by the club officials and rider participating.”
Thaxton’s Christmas parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday night, December 7.
Parade entries should begin lining up at 5:30 p.m.
There is no entry fee charge and floats may choose their own Christmas theme.
To register a parade entry persons may contact: Sammie Jaggers at 489-4888; Mayor Johnny Coleman at 419-2665; or Cindi Webb at 489-2567.
There will be coffee and hot chocolate available at the community house downtown.
Following the parade, a $5 stew, dessert and drink will be served at the Thaxton Community Park building.
Proceeds from the stew will go into the Christmas parade fund.
